# Polyphonia

> Polyphonia is a free daily word-association puzzle. Each day there is a start word and a goal word; you link from word to word, using six kinds of link (rhymes, synonyms, opposites, phrases, kinds or parts, and words that go together), until you reach the goal in as few links as you can.

- Price: free. No account, sign-up or download.
- New puzzles: one per difficulty (Easy, Medium, Hard) every day, released at midnight in the player's local time. Everyone gets the same puzzle for the same date.
- Six link types: Echo (rhyme, e.g. cat → hat); Thread (same meaning, e.g. big → large); Rift (opposite, e.g. hot → cold); Fusion (phrase, e.g. butter → fly); Root (kind or part, e.g. rose → flower); Spark (go together, e.g. key → lock).
- Difficulties: Easy allows all six link types (par 3–4); Medium allows all but Root (par 4–5); Hard allows only Echo, Thread and Rift (par 5–6).
- Scoring: links on the board when the goal is reached, plus 1 per hint, compared with par (the shortest verified route). Lower is better. Undo is free.
- Other features: link from any word on the board (branching), daily streaks, spoiler-free sharing with one coloured square per link, and "Hear your constellation", which plays the route as a melody.
- Archive: each date's solutions are published at https://www.polyphonia.app/puzzle/YYYY-MM-DD once that date has ended everywhere (12:00 UTC the next day).
